This project is based around visual and mental representation. I want to highlight our perception of how we «see» images. I enjoy reading Japanese poetry, haiku, and I decided to illustrate a poem who becomes one of my favorites.
My work is inspired by all works of Robert Massin or Pierre Faucheux who were great french typograph, and graphic designer. I organize my project around a poete : Kenji Miyazawa. He was a symbolist japonnese poet. This illustrated book is a work that invokes to explore and appreciate one of his masterpiece : «Haru to shura» or the spring and asura in english. Each illustrations are inspired by juste one line. I work with a graphic technique called klecksographie that is a process used for Rorschach test. This make me able to let the reader free of his own interpretation of the text.
My aim was to make a visual interpretation, as well as to create a dialog between two visual forms of communication: poem and illustration. Hope to awoke the reader to the beauty of Kenji MIyazawa’s work. Moreover I have got a rich experience working on these illustrations, which have helped me evolve as a designer and illustrator.
